Shed & Garage Slabs Sydney

A shed slab needs to match the kit it is going under, with the edge thickened where the frame bears and the anchor points in the right place. Get the dimensions wrong and the shed does not sit on it.

Bring us the kit specification and we will set out to it.

Worth knowing

How we approach shed slabs

Set out to the kit, not to a round number

Shed kits have specific anchor spacings. We work from the supplied dimensions so the frame lands on concrete rather than over the edge of it.

Thickened edge under the frame

The perimeter carries the load of the structure. Thickening the edge there is the difference between a slab that holds the anchors and one that spalls around them.

How a project runs

Seven stages

The sequence is the same on every project we quote, shed slabs included.

  1. 01

    Demolition and excavation

Existing slab removed, ground opened up and a skip brought on site. Spoil is carted away rather than left at the frontage.

  2. 02

    Levelling and base

Base graded and compacted. No quantity of concrete corrects a poorly prepared subgrade.

  3. 03

    Formwork

Boxed and pegged to finished levels, with falls set so water drains away from the building.

  4. 04

    Steel fixing

S72 reinforcing mesh raised on plastic chairs so it sits within the slab, with abelflex to the perimeter.

  5. 05

    The pour

32MPa at 20mm aggregate, pumped where access requires it. Driveways are poured at 130mm.

  6. 06

    Finishing

Screeded, floated and hand finished while the concrete is still green.

  7. 07

    Saw cutting

Cut early to control where the slab relieves. Every slab moves; the cuts determine where.
