Resurface without replacing · Sydney

Driveway Resurfacing Sydney

If the slab underneath is structurally sound, resurfacing gives you a new surface without the cost and disruption of removing and repouring the driveway.

The existing concrete is acid washed, primed, then skim coated to fill every hole and bring the surface back to level. From there it is sprayed in the colour or pattern you pick off the sample, and sealed the following day.

Where a slab has failed structurally — where it has dropped, or the cracking runs right through — resurfacing only conceals the problem for a season. We will tell you that rather than take the work.

Worth knowing

How we approach driveway resurfacing

The skim coat does the work

Spraying colour straight over a pitted slab reproduces every hole in it. The skim coat is what brings the surface back to level, and it is the step that gets skipped on a cheap quote.

Sealer the next day, not the same day

The colour coat has to be dry through before it is sealed. Sealing too early traps moisture underneath and the finish lifts.

How a project runs

Seven stages

The sequence is the same on every project we quote, driveway resurfacing included.

  1. 01

    Demolition and excavation

Existing slab removed, ground opened up and a skip brought on site. Spoil is carted away rather than left at the frontage.

  2. 02

    Levelling and base

Base graded and compacted. No quantity of concrete corrects a poorly prepared subgrade.

  3. 03

    Formwork

Boxed and pegged to finished levels, with falls set so water drains away from the building.

  4. 04

    Steel fixing

S72 reinforcing mesh raised on plastic chairs so it sits within the slab, with abelflex to the perimeter.

  5. 05

    The pour

32MPa at 20mm aggregate, pumped where access requires it. Driveways are poured at 130mm.

  6. 06

    Finishing

Screeded, floated and hand finished while the concrete is still green.

  7. 07

    Saw cutting

Cut early to control where the slab relieves. Every slab moves; the cuts determine where.
